Last Saturday was a creative arts experience held monthly in San Antonio, Texas. The event began as a way to explore the intersection of a mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical life to discover a whole being. The event ended when energy ran out and the concept proved to be non-contagious.
Last Saturday had a good run - 5 years. All of the above makes that next column eerily relevant.
What have you Created lately?
The vision of Last Saturday is to inspire the natural creative urges that all people possess. Remember when you were a kid and your mom hung your purple pony watercolor on the refridgerator and said it was beautiful? Then, somewhere along the way, some well-intentioned adult informed you that horses were not purple? As we go through life, it seems like the creativity evaporates out of us from the intense heat of conformity. Last Saturday is about re-discovering those creative urges. We may not have the innocence of childhood anymore, but we can release those long suppressed creative urges.
